TravelRiskWatch provides traveler-focused risk monitoring from public feeds and official guidance. Always verify official sources before making travel decisions.

About TravelRiskWatch

TravelRiskWatch brings official travel guidance, a transparent 1–5 standing risk level, a 72-hour Stability Assessment, current country reporting, Global Travel Watch, and optional AI-assisted country intelligence into one traveler-focused view.

It is designed for situational awareness. It does not replace government advice or guarantee that a destination is safe.

How to read the country dashboard

Risk Level answers: “How risky is travel now?” The standing rating runs from 1 to 5.

Stability Assessment answers: “Does the evidence suggest conditions are worsening, stable, or easing over 72 hours?” A stable direction does not mean a country is safe.

Traveler posture gives the practical action associated with the current level. Tap the risk panel or Why this rating? to review the evidence.

Privacy Policy

TravelRiskWatch is designed for public travel-risk awareness. No account, login, or payment is required to use the core dashboard.

Saved alerts, saved countries, notification preferences, and offline cached alerts are stored on this device so you can review them later. Removing the app or clearing browser/app storage may delete those saved items.

The app may use basic analytics to understand usage and reliability. Public feed requests may be sent to TravelRiskWatch services and public-source providers so alerts, country guidance, and map information can load.

TravelRiskWatch does not sell personal information. Always verify final travel decisions with official government, airline, airport, and local sources before departure.

Freshness and offline status

Checked shows when the app last completed that country scan. Official guidance, operational markers, independent reporting, and intelligence briefs show their own age when available.

Generated country intelligence is reused for that country for 24 hours. The advisory map checks for current U.S. State Department levels when the map loads and retains the last successful result if the source is temporarily unavailable.

Last updated information appears after the first successful scan. Live travel decisions should be verified online.

Stability Assessment

The Stability Assessment describes the likely direction of travel conditions over the next 72 hours. It is separate from the current 1–5 standing Risk Level. The dial reads Easing on the left, Stable in the center, and Worsening on the right.

Critical: fused signals point to severe near-term travel risk, such as closures, evacuation, attack, or emergency conditions.

Elevated: multiple signals indicate greater near-term travel volatility over the next 72 hours.

Watch: emerging signals deserve monitoring, but do not yet indicate severe deterioration.

Manageable: active signals exist, but current traveler disruption still appears manageable with normal preparation.

Stable: current evidence does not show a strong worsening pattern. Stable describes direction—not safety—and does not lower the current Risk Level.

Thin data: not enough fresh country-specific evidence is available to make a directional call.

TravelRiskWatch Risk Level methodology

The independent TravelRiskWatch Risk Level runs from 1 (Low) to 5 (Do Not Travel). It is not an official government rating and is not supplied by a third-party scoring API.

Weighting: official U.S., UK, and Canadian guidance 45%; security and conflict 25%; transport and border disruption 10%; current corroborated country reporting 10%; active natural hazards 5%; and freshness or direction of change 5%.

Official guidance establishes a minimum level. Recent, directly relevant and corroborated events may raise the result, but a quiet news scan cannot lower an official warning. Regional warnings are identified separately and do not automatically rate an entire country at the regional level.

The five key rating drivers shown on the country page are plain-language evidence summaries, not five separate numeric scores.

Levels: 1 Low; 2 Use Caution; 3 High Caution; 4 Reconsider Travel; 5 Do Not Travel.

Current Developments and pattern recognition

Current Developments combines direct country reporting with transport, border, security, health, weather, and official-source checks. Qualifying independent reports are included here instead of appearing in a separate Signal Monitor card.

Pattern recognition looks for corroboration across independent sources, several risk categories moving together, and verified findings concentrated in the same area. These patterns organize collected evidence; they do not predict events or replace official guidance.

A quiet result means this scan found no fresh development meeting the display threshold. It does not mean risk is zero.

Global Travel Watch

Country colors show current U.S. State Department advisory levels: green Level 1, gold Level 2, red Level 3, and deep red Level 4. Grey means the country was not checked or current data was unavailable.

Markers above the country colors show high-impact active or upcoming airport and public-transport disruptions from connected official feeds. Routine minor delays, stop-level maintenance, and general-aviation-only restrictions are excluded.

Current regional coverage includes FAA NAS Status, Transport for London, Helsinki HSL, Entur Norway, Hong Kong Transport Department, MyCiTi Cape Town, and selected GTFS-Realtime operators. It is curated rather than a complete global tracker, and every journey should be confirmed with the airline or transport operator.

Global Travel Watch reports whether connected operational feeds were successful, quiet, or temporarily unavailable. A quiet feed means no qualifying high-impact disruption was found; it does not mean every journey is clear.

Daily Travel Intelligence Report

The signature country report is created on demand from reputable news, direct operational sources, specialist feeds, and official baseline guidance. The same source-backed report is shared for 24 hours.

The research process checks ten traveler-impact areas: conflict and security, civil unrest and strikes, crime and personal safety, aviation, ground transport, borders and entry, health, weather and natural hazards, events and infrastructure, and the next 72 hours. Only sections with qualifying findings are expanded; the other checked areas are summarized in one compact coverage line.

If AI wording is unavailable, the app returns the collected verified source findings directly rather than leaving the report blank. Partial source coverage is labeled as incomplete, and unchecked areas are never presented as clear.

The intelligence report may legitimately differ from the standing risk rating because the report emphasizes evidence collected within the last 24 hours, while the rating also incorporates longer-lived official guidance.

Appearance

The current interface uses the owner-selected Indigo Slate design. Green, gold, red, and deep red are reserved for risk and directional meaning rather than decoration.

Saved-country alerts

Opt in per saved country. The app checks for a worsening 72-hour outlook, official-guidance changes, and significant strike or transport disruption updates when it opens or returns to the foreground. Instant alerts while the app is fully closed are not enabled.

Important source caution

No rating, trend, report, or map marker in the app should be treated as a final travel decision. Check official government, airline, airport, border, health, and local sources before departure.
